1- FP-FIT Pro: Concept

Intuitive interface

  1. User interface with a refined design based on Nikon brand colors
  2. Quick and easy to install
  3. Test results are displayed in a concise and easy-to-understand format to help customers understand our technologies.

Nikon's original measuring application

  1. The built-in gyro sensor accurately detects the iPad’s orientation for better measurement repeatability.
  2. By letting customers explore various parameters individually, they can better understand the differences between premium lenses and the technologies used in their design.

3- Start application

iPad settings

  1. The FP-FIT Pro application language follows the language selected in the iPad’s general settings.
  2. Enable Bluetooth and grant camera access in Settings > FP-FIT Pro.

4- Create or select a customer file


Create a new file

  1. Select New Customer [4] on the Home screen
  2. Enter first and last name and other information as needed.
  3. Enter at least one character in either the first or last name
    field to proceed to Frame and Measurement [2].
  4. Select the + button (More Information) button
    [3] to enter the prescription.


Select an existing file

  1. Select Existing Client [4] on the home screen
  2. You can check the status of existing client files.




5- Frame choice

  1. Select the frame icon at the bottom of the screen.



  2. The camera will start, ask the customer to put
    on the frame and look into the camera
  3. Press the camera button [1] to take a picture.
  4. A maximum of 8 pictures can be taken.
  5. Four of these photos can be viewed and
    compared side by side.


6- Preparation before measurements

Attaching the measuring clip

  1. When the fitting is complete, attach the
    measuring clip:

    1. Press the upper side of the frame against the claws on the upper side of the clip.

    2. Hook the lower claw of the clip to the bottom of the frame.

    3. Adjust the clip so that the mark in the center is centered with to the frame’s bridge.

    4. Adjust the frame so that it hits the four claws.



Attach the measuring clip to lens free frame, when possible. Note that accurate measurements are not possible if the frame contains prescription lenses.

7- Measurements

  1. Select the measurement icon [1] at the bottom of the screen.



  2. Four measurements are displayed:
    1. FAR VISION personalized
    2. FAR VISION: measurement of OCD, height only
    3. NEAR VISION: measurement of OCD, height and near working distance
    4. READING DISTANCE: near working distance only

  1. Select FAR VISION personalized (see previous page)
  2. When the camera starts, ask the customer to put on the frame with the measurement clip attached and to look to the camera
  3. The gyro sensor built into the FP-FIT Pro device detects the angle of the iPad.
    Follow the guide displayed on the screen to adjust the angle of the iPad so that it is perpendicular to the ground;
    If the iPad is not vertical, the picture cannot be taken[1].


  4. The distance to the customer is displayed under the eye icon [2] at the top of the screen. If the number is red, you are either too close or too far away to take the photo [3]; Adjust the distance to about 70 cm and the number should be green.

  5. Adjust the light intensity for corneal reflection with the bar [4] at the bottom of the screen.

  6. Align the customer's eyes with the green line while aligning the frame and clip with the clear part of the screen [5].
  7. Press the camera icon at the bottom of the screen, either left or right, to take a picture.

  1. Check that the light from the corneal reflection is clearly visible.
  2. Check that the sensor on the clip is correctly identified and marked in red in the correct position. [1]
  3. To take the picture again, tap the camera button [2].
  4. If there are no problems, press the check button [3] and continue.

  1. Adjust the angle of the client's face, displayed below the eye mark at the top of the screen [1], to 20° ± 5° . If the angle does not match to the reference value, the number will turn red, and the photo cannot be taken.

  2. Ask your customer not to move their face, just their eyes to look at the iPad camera.

  3. Press the Camera button [2] at the bottom of the screen, on the left or right, to take a photo.

  4. To take the photo again, press the Camera button [3]. If there are no problems, press the Validate button [4] to proceed to the next step.

  5. You can then continue with the corneal adjustement. If necessary, move the cross marker [5].

  6. Repeat for frontal and diagonal shots.

  1. Select 'Boxing' [1] to go directly to the boxing adjustment, or select 'Skip' [2] to go to other measurements.

  2. Without considering the frame groove, drag the boxing line (red line) with your finger to align it with the inner edge of the frame front, then tap the arrow [3] to continue.

  3. When the overview appears, select the frame material[4] and check that the yellow rectangles are correctly positioned. To start again, select [5].

  4. Press the OK button [6] to view the results.

  1. To change the results display mode, press the Dynamic/Chart button[1] .
  2. Scroll up to display more results.

9- Near vision measurement

Near vision measurement

Note: Do not remove the clip between measurements.
  1. Open the measurement selection page via the measurement icon and select Near Use [1].

  2. Due to the camera's position, please rotate your iPad to landscape mode to start the near vision measurement.

  3. Ask the client to sit down and hold the iPad in a natural position.

  4. Ask the client to press the camera icon [3] on the left or right side of the bottom of the screen while looking at the FP FIT Pro logo [2] in the middle.





10- Reading distance measurement


  1. Open the measurement selection page from the measurement icon and select READING DISTANCE
  2. Ask the customer to sit down and hold the iPad in a natural position.
  3. Ask the client to clic on OK [1] to begin.
  4. Ask the client to tap the camera icon [3] on the left or right side of the bottom of the screen while looking at the FP FIT Pro logo [2] in the centre.
  5. Press the OK button to view the results.
